King Of Prussia, Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania

Chief William Daywalt issued a report to the Upper Merion Township community leaders and residents.

National Fire Prevention Week has come and gone, it was held during the week of October 9th. The King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company would like to thank the community for an extraordinary attendance to the various fire safety events.

The volunteers performed fire education events at local businesses, such as, Home Depot and Lockheed Martin Corporation. The company attended area fire prevention displays at Radnor Fire Company and Centre Square Fire Company. In addition, the volunteers again took a very aggressive approach to fire education. During the daytime hours the company visited the local elementary schools, day care and child care facilities. We successfully made safety education contacts with 3,200 children and 1,200 adults.

These events have proven to have a positive impact of the community. Children who have attended the past years event can quickly answer questions on what they should do if their clothes catch on fire, how to dial 911, how to exit the house if it is on fire, what are smoke detectors, how the check smoke detector to verify they a working, how many times to change the batteries in smoke detectors, etc.

These volunteers have shown their dedication to the township year after year without praise and should be commended for the service they provide.

Although fire prevention is practiced for only one week during the year, the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company would like to remind everyone to practice your fire safety techniques everyday. The company has and will continue to provide this benefit to our community throughout the entire year.
